Tulum, Cenotes & Cobá: A Journey to the Mayan Heartland
Enter the Tulum ruins through one of the five entrances to start your day at the only Mayan city built on the Caribbean shores of the Yucatán Peninsula.
This archaeological site offers great views of the majestic stone temples as you feel the cool tropic breezes coming off the sea. By arriving in early morning you will be able to experience fewer crowds and enjoy the beauty of this ancient trading and ceremonial center.
Afterwards, your guide will take you to a different cenote in Cobá so you can explore the crystal-clear underground waters of “Xibalba’s world.” A traditional Mayan lunch follows in the home of a Mayan family who will share aspects of their daily life and culture.
We always save the best for last! A bike ride through the ancient ceremonial center of Cobá, one of the few Mayan archaeological sites in the Yucatán unspoiled by external invading cultures or the Spanish. The main pyramid offers breathtaking views of the surrounding jungle canopy and Lake Macanxoc. Another impressive feature of the Cobá ceremonial center is the large number of stelae which contain the calendar dates of Cobá’s founding.
